FAQ
I’m not really sure what Bollywood dance is. Is that a problem?
Not at all. That’s exactly why we’re here.
We’ll guide you through the rich world of Bollywood dance - its background, music, and the many styles that come together within it. Just relax, enjoy the experience, and feel free to ask questions anytime.
What is Bollywood dance good for?
Like many forms of movement, it’s a great way to stay active and unwind.
If you’re drawn to India and would like to connect with its rich and diverse culture, you’re in the right place.
Bollywood dance is never monotonous - it has many faces, and everyone can find the style that resonates with them. That’s why it’s loved by so many people around the world.
I’m familiar with Bollywood films and already know what style I’d like to learn. Is that possible?
Absolutely.
Our weekly classes cover different themes and styles at multiple levels, so you can choose what suits you best - or even explore more than one direction at the same time.
If you have a specific interest or would like to go deeper into a particular style, private lessons are also available.
What should I bring to class?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely - for example, trousers or leggings with a light top.
We usually dance barefoot, but you can wear socks or ballet shoes if you prefer.
A small towel and a bottle of water are also recommended.
What types of passes and tickets are available?
Single class tickets and monthly passes are available for the classes listed in the current schedule.
Each class is 60 minutes long.
Advance registration is required, and all classes must be paid in advance.
For current pricing, please contact us via email.

Does my body type matter? Can I lose weight with Bollywood dance?
No matter your body type - slim, curvy, or athletic - you can fully participate in the classes.
Over time, Bollywood dance improves strength and endurance, as it engages all muscle groups, including deeper muscles.
Depending on intensity and individual factors, a class can burn approximately 300–450 kcal.

How is a typical class structured?
Each class begins with a warm-up, followed by revision and practice of previously learned movements.
Then we move on to new material, and finish with stretching.
Throughout the class, you’ll also gain insights into the dance, Indian culture, and film context.

I have dance experience in another style. Should I still join a beginner class?
Yes, we recommend starting with the beginner level.
Every dance style - including Bollywood - has its own movement language, so it’s important to build strong foundations.
Jumping straight into advanced classes or choreography would make it difficult to follow and enjoy the process - and we want you to have a great experience.
However, workshops are mostly open-level!

What is the difference between Bollywood dance and classical Indian dance?
Classical Indian dance forms developed centuries ago and follow structured systems with defined techniques and movements.
In simple terms, they can be seen as the “ballet of the East.”
Bollywood dance, on the other hand, is much younger, emerging from the Indian film industry.
It is a dynamic fusion of classical traditions, folk dances, and Western influences, and it continues to evolve today.

What is the difference between Bollywood dance and belly dance? Is there such a thing as “Indian belly dance”?
Belly dance originates from Egypt and the Middle East, while Bollywood dance comes from India.
They are two distinct cultures and traditions, often mistakenly grouped together as “oriental dance.”
In modern dance culture, there can be overlaps, as elements from different styles are sometimes combined.
However, they remain fundamentally different forms with their own unique identities.
